After doing a lot of VFR flying in my home country Austria it was time for a special adventure: Flying a Cessna in the US. Converting my Austrian Private Pilot License to an FAA Private Pilot Certificate was already done a few months ahead.

Finally in May 2022 while being on a road trip through the southwest of the United States my friend Hannes and I rented a Cessna at North Las Vegas Airport (KVGT) and flew to Grand Canyon National Park Airport (KGCN) for a beautiful sightseeing trip around the area of the impressive Grand Canyon National Park. Flying along the VFR Corridors we could see the unique landscape Arizona has to offer. On the way back to Las Vegas we made a little detour over Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam.

I can really recommend completing a VFR Trip in the area of Grand Canyon. It is quite an experience! Make sure to be prepared regarding the VFR corridors and its altitude restrictions....and don't forget to bring your camera. :)

Thanks again to Chennault Flying Service at North Las Vegas Airport for making this possible. We certainly had a blast!
