This trip was a mission of getting in some training and celebrating two years cancer free! Shortly before the flight, I had received the good news that my scans and blood tests were all clear during my annual cancer check up. My daughter, Kaitlyn, is working on her private fixed wing license and had just finished a flight lesson in a Cessna 150 named “Blue Belle” with “Girls Love To Fly” based out of KMCC.

I work at KMCC so when she landed, I taxied over and she jumped in the C172 with me to go fly and celebrate a huge victory over cancer! We flew out over Folsom Lake for a bit and then worked our way back west just in time to catch the beautiful sunset as we landed back at KMCC.

This was, without a doubt, the most special and memorable flight I’ve ever had. Being able to share those moments with my daughter, and with the freedom of flight in an amazing Cessna, is something neither of us will ever forget!
